Dawn Approach Bought By Godolphin

The undefeated Dawn Approach will race for Godolphin from now on, after the international Racing entity bought a "majority share" in the Coventry-winning colt from Jim Bolger.

Dawn Approach is a son of Derby-winning New Approach, whose first crop of progeny have certainly made a name for themselves. Last week at Royal Ascot, New Approach sired three individual winners, including the now Godolphin bound Dawn Approach.

In recent years Godolphin have been overshadowed in their globe-trotting exploits by Ballydoyle, largely thanks to the success of sires like Galileo and Montjeu, but now in New Approach perhaps Godolphin have the super-sire they needed to finally serve it up to their Irish counterparts.

Dawn Approach will, according to the Godolphin website, remain in training with Jim Bolger this season with a decision on his three-year-old campaign to be made down the line.

In a statement on the website, Racing manager Simon Crisford said:

"We are delighted Dawn Approach will race for Godolphin and look forward to seeing him run at the highest level throughout his career... It is fantastic how well New Approach has started his stallion career and Dawn Approach appears to have inherited many of his qualities."

In a way it's a little sad to see a potential superstar leave a less prominent on the national stage trainer like Bolger but in terms of the future and New Approach's siring capabilities this is very exciting.

I've been a Dawn Approach fan from day one and he looks the real deal, Bolger has already said he has a few more big race targets for him this season, including the Dewhurst only now his jockey will be rocking those famous blue colours.
